  • DESCRIPTION
    8G MINOXEL contains the sodium salt of ceftiofur a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the family of cephalosporins. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including lactamase producing strains. Like other cephalosporins, ceftiofur is in vitro as a result of inhibition of cell wall synthesis bactericide. The chemical name of ceftiofur sodium is: 5-Thia-1-aza-bicyclo [4.2.0] oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid, 7 - [[(2-amino-4-thiazolyl) (methoxyimino) - acetyl] amino] -3 - [[(2-furanyl-carbonyl) thio] methyl] -8-oxo, monosodium salt, [-6R- [6a, 7 (Z)]]. Bovine : MINOXEL 8G is indicated in the treatment of bovine respiratory disease (pneumonia or shipping fever) associated Pasteurella haemolytica, Haemophilus somnus and Pasteurella multocida. Porcine : MINOXEL 8G is indicated for the treatment and control of swine bacterial respiratory disease (swine bacterial pneumonia) associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella choleraesuis and Streptococcus suis type 2. Equines : MINOXEL 8G is indicated for the treatment of respiratory diseases in horses associated with Streptococcus zooepidemicus, Streptococcus equi, Staphylococcus spp and Pasteurella spp. Canines : MINOXEL 8G is indicated in the treatment of urinary tract infections in dogs associated with Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis. Birds : MINOXEL 8G is indicated in reducing early mortality in chicks of 1 day old (colibacillosis) associated with strains of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus sensitive sodium ceftiofur.
  • DOSE
    Bovines: Manage cattle a dose of 1 to 2 mg ceftiofur per kilogram body weight (0.5 to 1 ml of the reconstituted product per 40 kg body weight). The treatment should be repeated at 24 hour intervals for three consecutive days. Animals that do not show signs of improvement after three treatments may again be treated on days 4 and 5. The selection of doses (1 to 2 mg / kg) should be based on the severity of the disease in the judgment of Veterinarian (forexample, degree of increase in body temperature, physical appearance depressed, increased respiratory rate , cough and loss of appetite). Porcine: Manage pigs a dose of 1 to 3 mg of Ceftiofur per kilogram body weight (0.5 to 1.5 mL of the reconstituted product per 40 kg body weight). Equines: Administer horses a dose of 2 to 4 mg per kg body weight (1 to 2 mL of the reconstituted product per 40 kg body weight). Administer 10 mL per injection site. Treatment should be repeated at intervals of 24 hours and continue 48 hours after the clinical signs have disappeared and shall not exceed 10 days. Canines: Administer to dogs by subcutaneous injection a dose of 2 mg ceftiofur per kg of body weight (0.25 mL of reconstituted product per 10 kg body weight). The treatment should be repeated at 24 hour intervals for 5 to 14 days. Poultry: Administer by subcutaneous injection in the neck region of day - old chicks of age a dose of 0.08 to 0.20 mg of ceftiofur per chicken. One ml solution (80 mg) treats 400 to 1000 chicks one day old. Cattle, pigs and horses: MINOXEL reconstituted 8G be administered by intramuscular injection only.
